I would like to use my energy and skills, in the following areas, to forward the struggle of African people. (Please list your areas of interest below.)

Volunteer to Bake

Head Bakers and Assistant Bakers Needed

Uhuru Holiday Pies are baked collectively by volunteers who are coordinated by experienced bakers.

If you have any baking skills at all and want to use them to change the world, give us a call today!! We are looking all trained and aspiring bakers to join in becoming part of the core of our baking team.

Be one of the lead bakers or a baker's assistant that works with our volunteers to produce consistently beautiful and delicious Uhuru Pies.

In addition, volunteers with no experience assist our bake team! Bring your friends and fmily to the Uhuru Kitchen for a shift or two or three. Help cut and cook apples, mix berries, fill the pie shells, assemble and fill boxes and label mountains of pies!

Uhuru Pies are prepared in the Uhuru Jiro at 1245 - 18th Avenue South, St. Petersburg, FL 33705.

Our first big mixing session will be mid October, followed by several other dates. Sign up today!

To volunteer in the kitchen or attend a training, sign up today or send email to StPete@uhurupies.org.

If you own or manage a bakery and would like to help produce Uhuru Pies this November, please contact StPete@uhurupies.orgor call us at 888-519-4022.

Volunteer at the Market

Join us for breakfast or lunch at the St. Pete Saturday Market.

Uhuru Foods & Pies has a booth at the popular Saturday Morning Market in the Al Lang Stadium parking lot every Saturday October through May. Sign up today for shifts anytime between 6am-6pm!

The Uhuru Breakfast & Lunch booth at Market is a 14 year old institution of the Uhuru Movement, building an independent African economy for the prosperity and self-determination of African people worldwide.

You don't need any experience -- we will train you on cooking, filling orders, restocking or other stations to suit your skills and inclination. When you sign up to volunteer, we will send you an email with details about the time and location of your shift and what to expect.

Join our team!

There are also volunteer shifts in the Uhuru Jiko Community Commercial Kitchen Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-2pm weekly, and opportunities on the team for positions such as:

  • Volunteer Recruitment, Training & Coordination
  • Booth Day Coordinator and Station Coordinators
  • Social Media Promotions
  • Ingredients shopping, securing donations
  • Operations: Equipment and Truck repair and maintenance
  • And more!
