  4. I understand the sales of Uhuru Pies supports the programs of Black Star Industries and that pie sellers receive no monetary compensation for promoting Uhuru Pies.

Selling Uhuru Pies

Uhuru Pies are sold by individuals and community organizations to support the African community self-determination programs of the Uhuru Movement. Sellers set a goal, create a profile and make a statement that wins others to order their Uhuru Pies this holiday from them.

Follow the steps below to set up and edit your profile or see your orders. Let your frineds know to order their pies from you. Check out Tips for selling Uhuru Pies.

To set up your personal pie seller profile, fill out the information in the form on this page:

  • Create a user name and password. Write this information down. You will need it to log in later.
  • Enter your contact information, choosing your "Pie Headquarters."
  • If you are setting up a profile for a company, fill in the "Company Info" section of this form.
  • Fill out the information in the "Your Public Page" section of the form. This information will appear on uhuurpies.org.
    • Choose the public name you want buyer's to see. You can use a company name.
    • Upload a picture of yourself. If you do not upload a picture, a default graphic will appear next to your name on the website.
    • Enter a number in the "Goal Number of Pies" field. Enter a minimum of 10.
    • Write a personal statement about why you are selling Uhuru Pies, or why people should order from you.
    • Check "Yes!" in the "Agreement."
    • Click "Sign up to Sell Pies" to submit your information.

If you would like to volunteer to bake, staff a table or set up a tasting, check the box "Other Volunteering." CLICK "Signup."

To see who has ordered pies from you or to edit your profile:

  • Go to the login page.
  • Under "Sellers," enter your email address and your password.
  • Click "Login."
  • A page appears that allows you to edit your profile. At the bottom of the page your orders appear.
  • To edit your profile information, make the desired changes in the form.
  • Click "Update."

To update your profile from last year:

  • Follow the log in step in the section above.
  • Enter a goal for this year.
  • Update your statement, your picture or any other public information.
  • Check "Yes!" in the "Agreement."
  • Click "Update."
    • Your profile will now appear for the new year.

Tips for selling Uhuru Pies

SOME THINGS YOU CAN DO TO SELL UHURU HOLIDAY PIES ARE

  • Sign up TODAY! Set up your Personal Pie Selling Page.
  • Talk with your friends, co-workers and colleagues.
  • Hand out postcards at your job, church, school or other organization.
  • Put an announcement in your group's newsletter.
  • Put up posters in the lunchroom or common area.
  • Send out an email or an Evite or Facebook announcement about Uhuru Pies.
  • Organize coworkers to come to a pie tasting with sample tastes of Uhuru Pies.
  • Ask people to DONATE A PIE. Everyone you know can buy one or more pies that Uhuru Pies will donate to a local charity that is serving holiday meals to those in need.
  • Promote the fact that they are made from scratch with all natural ingredients and taste delicious!
  • Pick a day to help sell these pies with your friends or group at our distribution sites.

GETTING YOUR PIE ORDERS

  • Forms are available to record your sales HERE or ask people to go to your personal Pie Seller page and select "Buy Pies from this Seller."
  • Orders of 10 or more pies can be delivered on the day you request to your office or site, or you can arrange to pick them up. Other delivery arrangements can often be made. Let us know in advance of your pickup/delivery needs and approximate order. Final orders can be submitted up until 2:00 pm the day before they are needed.
  • All orders must be pre-paid online or in cash/check (check payable to "Uhuru Pies").

WAYS TO SUBMIT YOUR ORDERS

  • PHONE: Call us at 888-519-4022 and leave a message with your order: the total number of each type of pie, date/time for delivery or pickup.
  • IN PERSON: Bring your orders to the Uhuru Kitchen or any Uhuru institution in your area. Get a seller's order form HERE.
  • ONLINE: Select your location (St. Petersburg or Oakland) and then Buy Pies Here!.
